Logan, located In northern Utah along Hwy 89 north of Ogden and Salt Lake City, at 41.74 degrees north and 111.83 degrees west, is a quaint agricultural town located in beautiful Cache Valley, at an elevation of 4,535 feet above sea level, offers geological wonders, scenic attractions, a rich historical legacy, and  mountains on both sides of the city. The scenic 40 mile long Logan Canyon is breathtaking in the fall. Homeowners consider pastoral Logan to be the most beautiful city in Utah to live in! Logan's is approximately 32,762 (1990).

Lifestyle

Logan, a university town, offers an array of sophisticated entertainment usually found in larger cities including a symphony, a theater, art galleries and sporting events. More traditional events on major holidays and summer festivals make Cache Valley a lively place to live year round. The mountains provide residents with skiing, hiking and fishing. Recreation

The area surrounding Logan is home to  the turquoise colored Bear Lake Recreation Area, (a water sports hub sometimes called the "Caribbean of the Rockies"),  Beaver Mountain Ski Resort, eleven ski resorts, offering a virtually endless variety of recreational opportunities and a full and eclectic calendar festivals and events.

Bear Lake, a four season recreational paradise for watersport activities offers sailing, boating, swimming, jet-skiing, water-skiing, fishing (for cutthroat, mackinaw and whitefish), sailboarding and scuba diving. There are also several restaurants in Garden City on the shores of Bear Lake, serving excellent raspberry milkshakes blended fresh with locally-grown berries.

Salt Lake City, only 90 minutes from Cache Valley, dancing, music, art and drama, with such renowned groups as Ballet West (the fifth largest in the nation); the Capitol Theater; Repertory Dance Theater; Ririe Woodbury Dance Company; Pioneer Memorial Theater; Promised Valley Theater; Utah Opera Company; the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and the Utah Symphony (ranked tenth in the country by Fortune Magazine).

    Located in Logan Canyon off Hwy 89 and contains more than 500 skiable acres. With an elevation of from 7,200 to 8,840 ft above sea level and a vertical rise of 1,600 feet, Beaver Mountain has three double lifts and 464 skiable acres. It has a good mix of beginner, intermediate and advanced runs. Some of its facilities are a ski shop, ski rentals, a ski school, snowboarding, a day lodge, and a cafeteria.

  • The Jardine Juniper near Logan is thought to be the earth's largest and oldest juniper tree estimated to be 3,000 years old.

Tranportation

Salt Lake International airport, a Delta Airlines hub, is only 90 minutes from Logan, offering easy access with an average of 312 flights to 100 cities each day and  no congestion or delays from ten major airlines.

Education

  • Utah State University A Carnegie I Research Institution with over 20,000 students. The University's Food Science Building on the eastern side of the Logan campus is famous for its home-made ice cream.

History

The Logan area was settled by Mormons who wanted to live off the land. The area was endowed with rich soil and good farm land. Logan was founded in 1855.
